When you are preparing your luggage for travel, one of the most important travel bags you will pack is your carry-on. With the new laws regarding air travel, it is sometimes better to buy items you used to carry in your bag when you arrive at your destination. But for those items that you must bring with you, there are a few that need to be put in your carry-on.
Your Important Papers
Some people don’t like to put their passports and important travel papers in their pockets when they travel, so they make the mistake of packing them into the luggage they check in at the gate. Any money, passports or paperwork that you will need access to should be packed in your carry-on if you are not going to put it in your pockets. You never know when you will need your passports or money as you travel to your destination.
Travel can be unpredictable and you never know if you will have to stay the night at a local hotel because your flight was suddenly canceled. If you have a regimen of medications you rely on each day, you should not assume that your flying schedule will allow you access to the medication you need. You should pack your medication in your carry-on bag and have it with you at all times.
Change Of Clothes
The unpredictable nature of air travel means that you have to make more than one contingency plan to account for possible changes in your schedule. That is why you should pack a change of clothes in your carry-on to have something clean to wear if you do get stuck in an unexpected overnight layover.
If you are on a no-frills flight that does not serve food, then you may want to pack some snacks in your carry-on in case you get hungry. When you pack food in your carry-on, you also have something with you if your flight gets delayed.
A quality carry-on bag is one of the most important pieces of luggage you will pack for any trip. Be sure to pack your carry-on with the items you will need when you get to your destination, and with some contingency items in case your flight does not go as planned.
