The run up to spring is an annoying time of year, don’t you find? It’s not quite warm, it’s not quite cold, in fact it’s not really anything at all other than in-between. When you’re not in the category to enjoy summer holidays, and you’ve passed the idea of winter sun breaks, what are you supposed to do?
Well, I think this is a great excuse to head south to the Canary Islands!
You don’t need to be in summer or winter to enjoy the endless sunshine that these islands offer, and towards the end of February/beginning of March, when you’re fed up of waiting for summer days, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura all offer a spot of premature summer sun, perfect for tiding you over until the real thing comes out to play in your part of the world.
Of course, cost comes into the equation here, especially because Christmas and New Year haven’t long since left us, and most of us are still paying off the expense of this time of year, but if you can find a deal, and ways to cut out extra costs, then you could quite easily jet off for a week of sunshine R&R.
Booking airport parking and driving yourself to the airport is a great go-to for cutting out stress and saving money, and if there is more than one of you travelling, this means bigger savings too. I much prefer the freedom of being able to leave the house when I want, and the ease of driving myself, rather than relying on expensive public transport, and I recently had a fantastic experience when I booked Stansted parking, saving big in comparison! This is a generally nationwide service too, so no-one need miss out.
If you’re travelling as a family, the sunshine Canary Islands offer plenty to keep the littles ones occupied, whist you enjoy some precious ‘me’ time on the beach or by the pool. Tenerife is a great idea for a family holiday, full of water-parks, beach time, and activities and attractions for the kids. Lanzarote is a good choice if you enjoy the more natural side of things, with an earie lunar landscape, and a visit to Timanfaya Park a must do. Gran Canaria offers a buzzing atmosphere, perfect for a traditional beach break, and Fuerteventura is a more laid-back kind of affair, with those famous huge sand dunes.
This idyllic and fun part of the world just goes to show that the irritating limbo time between winter and summer doesn’t have to affect your holiday plans; grab a deal and jet off to the sun!
